Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

As an official migration agent supported by Migration Agents Registration Authority (MARA), the team at Achievement Education is well aware that many skilled professionals spend years developing their practical work experience in their chosen area without gaining any certification to acknowledge their expertise.

You could very well have been working for years, either competently or even in a managerial position, using the skills that you have developed within your workplace, but not receiving formal recognition for your experience as you should.

The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) provided by our service helps you fill that specific gap by evaluating the skills and workplace experience you have gained and assessing how they match up to existing national standards.

See if you qualify today!

What Constitutes As Experience for RPL?

At Achievement Education, we acknowledge that skills can be obtained from multiple settings that can extend beyond the classroom or official environment. Your experience can be evaluated based on:

  • Current or past employment
  • Self-employment or entrepreneurship
  • Foreign employment experience
  • Learning from on-the-job experience and other informal learning processes
  • Apprenticeship/traineeship experience
  • Industries' certificates and short courses
  • Voluntary or community service experience

If you've been employed and have been consistently performing the required activities within your profession, your experience may match the qualification's requirements.

Eligibility Requirements For Applying for RPL

We acknowledge that you may be someone who has a lot of professional experience, but lacks a corresponding formal certification to prove that you are capable of meeting the requirements of your job. You may be eligible if you:

  • Have several years of practical work experience but no formal qualification in your field
  • Are currently working in a skilled role based on experience rather than formal training
  • Hold overseas qualifications or experience that require recognition in Australia
  • Have developed skills through employment, self-employment, or hands-on industry work

If this reflects your background, RPL may provide a direct pathway toward a nationally recognised qualification based on what you already know and can do.

Our RPL Process

Getting your prior learning assessed with Achievement Education is simple, structured, and evidence-based. The process is designed to clearly demonstrate your existing competency.

  1. Consultation and Identification of the Right Qualification Pathway

Stage one will be carried out through extensive consultations to assess your educational level, previous experience, and career objectives so as to determine the appropriate path to follow in acquiring the relevant qualifications. In addition, your experience will be matched with the qualification standards in Australia.
  2. Gathering of Evidence

Once you have been declared eligible, we will take you through gathering all necessary evidence that demonstrates your skills and experience, which will make up the basis of your assessment. These could be some of the following:
    • Current CV or resume
    • Reference letters from former employers
    • Work samples or work portfolios
    • Letters of employment, pay slips, or employment/job sheets (in case you have them)
    • Photos or video clips of work task performance
    • Academic qualifications
    • Job descriptions/position descriptions
Licensing, registrations, certifications, etc. Properly prepared evidence will go a long way in making your assessment easy.
  3. Assessment and Competency Mapping

Your evidence is reviewed by qualified assessors against nationally recognised qualification requirements. Your practical experience will be matched with the Australian competency standards, thus evaluating your competencies.
  4. Outcome and Certificate

If the evidence shows that you have met the set competency standards, you can be awarded a nationally recognised certificate. Sometimes, you might be advised on any further training needed to complete the process of acquiring the certificate in compliance with industry standards.
